Over 25 volunteers from eight area Bright Now! Dental locations gathered at the Lakewood, Colo., office on Saturday, January 27, to provide nearly $30,000 in donated dentistry during a Day of Giving. The team worked to deliver care to over 40 underserved patients from the community, with services including checkups, cleanings, oral cancer screenings, fluoride treatments, fillings, and extractions.

Patients who received treatment at the event were very appreciative of the dental services provided. Jeanne Payton is a cancer survivor who won her fight just a few months ago. While she beat cancer, the chemotherapy took its toll on her teeth. She needed a lot of work done and was nervous to come in. She was very happy to receive the care she needed and thinks the world of Bright Now! Dental for the gentle care the team provided.

Another patient, Bastrykov Roman, is a recent immigrant from Ukraine. He fled his country to escape the war, leaving his life behind. He had severe decay, was constantly in pain and needed multiple extractions. Dr. Georgann Apgar was able to provide him the care he needed and he was thumbs up the whole time! Roman thought he would never be able to afford the dental care he needed and couldn’t say thank you enough for the team taking his pain away.

Rachel Huber was also grateful for her care and was moved to tears from all the kindness she received. As a woman living on the streets, she says, “You truly have helped me want to pick myself up and dust myself off. Dr. [Vidhya] Sampath is truly a God send. Thank you for all you do.” She said it was one of the best days of her life.

The all-around positive experience was also shared by the dentists, hygienists, and other team members. “The patients and the day in general have uplifted my spirits for the entire year!,” said Dr. Sampath.

Volunteer dentists included: Dr. Georgann Apgar, Dr. Danijela Jankovic, Dr. Boyan Rano, Dr. Vidhya Sampath, and Dr. Nikita Singh.

Bright Now! Dental partnered with the Smiles for Everyone Foundation to deliver dental care to the underserved community during this Day of Giving. The foundation’s next event will be held at the Bright Now! Dental office on Temecula Parkway in Temecula, California on February 11, 2018.
