Our Ghana International Outpost team continues to deliver Smiles to the communities in need! This past month, the dental team visited Behinase.
On Tuesday, April 10th, a team of dental volunteers went to Behinase in the Ashanti Region of Ghana to screen patients for their dental outreach. The team visited 5 schools in the area: Behinase D/A Basic School, Akyeremade D/A Primary School, Living Jesus Academy, Serwaa Kingdom Academy, and Kwawoma D/A Basic School. Out of the 597 children at these schools, 115 were screened and selected for treatment. Once the parents signed consent forms, the team was able to provide treatment for the children.
On Friday, April 13, 2018, the team was ready for their outreach. Of the 115 children selected, 66 children turned up for treatment. 29 children received scaling and polishing, and 37 had extractions. Along with the dental care, the children were also provided dental education and learned how to effectively brush and take care of their teeth.
