Dr. Codruta Julia Fosman is a Lead Dentist who is passionate about giving back to her community!
Dr. Fosman has been caring for patients at Bright Now! Dental for over 6 years. Her passion for philanthropy and health care started when she was 12 years old. “I grew up in Romania in a community where we were always helping each other,” she explained. “When I was in the 5th grade, I had a lot of toothaches and needed dental treatments at a university’s dental clinic. The dental students who were restoring my teeth were the ones who inspired me.”
Dr. Fosman has since done everything she could to help relieve people of pain. “Before becoming a dentist, I had volunteered as a nurse since I was sixteen years old,” she recounted. “As a dentist, I started volunteering with Mission of Mercy, a program coordinated by American Dental Association.”
Her involvement with the Smiles for Everyone Foundation followed her employment at Bright Now! Dental. She has volunteered at every Day of Giving in San Diego County in the past few years, and also travels to events in other markets to support her fellow colleagues. She prioritizes dental care because of the risks associated with unhealthy teeth. “Neglecting dental care can result in toothaches, tooth loss, gum disease and infection,” she informed. “There’s also psychological issues related to tooth loss, unemployment and financial difficulty. It is expensive to treat dental disease and costs less money to prevent it.”
When asked about how it feels to give back to the community, Dr. Fosman stated, “I’m extremely thankful to be part of a wonderful organization where people are treated with dignity and respect. Personally, this is more important to me than financial gain. My belief is that a life is well lived when you have a purpose and you act on it. Show your enthusiasm and lead by example!”
