The Tinananon tribe, nestled in the remote and rugged valley of Mindanao province, is one of the poorest indigenous groups in the Philippines. Facing severe economic hardships, only about 1% of children here finish school, and many are separated from their parents due as they do not have the resources to take care of their children (Bocayes, n.d.).
On June 1, 2024, the Smiles For Everyone Philippines outpost embarked on a mission to bring much-needed dental care to the Tinananon tribe in Brgy. This outreach included tooth extractions, fluoride treatments, and dental education, offering a lifeline of oral health support to the community.
Our dedicated volunteers who traveled to this underserved area to provide their services have unwavering commitment to helping those in need and it is truly inspiring!
Our partners are also critical to making this impactful work possible:
- UAP-Kadayawan Davao Chapter
- Philippine Dental Association Davao Chapter
- Lumad Ministry
This collaboration has helped bring smiles and hope to the Tinananon tribe. Together, we are making a significant impact in the lives of those who need it most.
