Our local Paraguay team delivered over 170 Smiles in the Marakana Area!
In September, the local Paraguay Team held an outreach in the Marakana Area of the Canindeyú Department, which is the most remote location the Team has ever been to. The Marakana Area is an agricultural region located five hours from the city of Asunción, and is only accessible through dirt roads. The closest place that members of this community can go to receive medical attention is 50 miles away, but there is absolutely no dental care nearby.
Very concerned about the lack of accessible dental care, the volunteer providers were eager to help. Since most of this community has never seen a dentist before, the outreach was very long and intense, but also incredibly rewarding. Over 170 people received dental and medical care during this clinic, and left feeling extremely thankful for the care they received.
The local Paraguay Team will continue to plan remote outreaches for communities that have difficulty accessing dental care, so they can continue in the mission of delivering Smiles for Everyone!
